Night owls across Malaysia were treated to a breathtaking sight in the early hours of Sept 8 as the Moon turned a dramatic deep red during the total lunar eclipse.
From about 1.30am to 2.52am, the Moon glowed in shades of crimson, with the peak at 2.11am drawing plenty of photos and videos from skywatchers. Known as the Blood Moon, the phenomenon occurs when Earth passes directly between the Sun and the Moon, casting a shadow that filters sunlight into a reddish glow.
In Subang Jaya, the eclipse became obscured from 1230am till almost 3am by heavy cloud cover. Those who stayed on were rewarded by the sight of the Blood Moon.
