It’s amazing what a small community effort can do especially when it helps someone see the world a little clearer.
A local Upcycling Project organised by KRT SS18/3 successfully collected around 120 pairs of used spectacles over a two-week period, proving that even old glasses can still make a meaningful impact.
The initiative was carried out from 12 January to 24 January 2026, in collaboration with POTT Glasses Subang.
To make it easy for residents to participate, a collection box was placed at the SS18/1 KRT cabin. Residents were encouraged to donate their used spectacles regardless of condition so they could be repurposed instead of thrown away.
By the end of the collection period, approximately 120 pairs of spectacles had been gathered.
On 9 February 2026, the collected spectacles were officially handed over to Aquila, a professional optometrist and optical stylist at Pott Glasses in SS2, Petaling Jaya.
The donated spectacles will be refurbished, giving them a new lease of life and ensuring they can still be useful instead of becoming waste.
Beyond reducing waste, the project highlights how community-driven efforts can support sustainability while encouraging residents to contribute in a simple, practical way by donating something many people already have at home but no longer use.
