Underprivileged students with vision impairment receive their prescription glasses from Lions Club of Subang Jaya
SIXTY underprivileged students received their prescription glasses from the Lions Club of Subang Jaya, just in time before the new school term reopens.
The 60 received their glasses just weeks after undergoing a free eye test for children which was conducted in USJ1.
Organising chairperson Lion Joseph Lee said the initiative was to help children who suffered vision problems.
The “Gift of Sight” project was carried out with MBSJ MPP Zon 3 and 4 councillors, Lee Jen Uyin and Kamarul Hisham, who helped to identify deserving families in their respective areas.
“Out of the 200 children who underwent preliminary screening, 60 were found to be needing prescription glasses to help improve their vision.”
“Our recipients will have time to get used to wearing spectacles before the new academic year begins in 2022,” Joseph said.
LCSJ has a long history of doing free eye checks for the public. This year, the Club has enhanced their sight project and included donating spectacles to deserving children.
