A Garden of Eden on the Rooftop

The theme is centred on floral, specifically bright colourful Heliconia and Birds of Paradise

As the Conditional Movement Control Order extends in Klang Valley, a team of designers in Sunway Pyramid took the opportunity to spread positivity by creating colourful murals, to welcome shoppers when they are ready to return to the mall.

Shabri Osman, Nurul Nadia and Mior Mohd Nafis chase perfection when painting the mural

The highly spirited Visual and Graphic Design team made up of Mohd Shabri, Nurul Nadia and Mior in Sunway Pyramid have been painting Heliconia plants and Birds of Paradise at various spots of the rooftop car park, expecting the project to be fully completed in a month’s time.

The Heliconia plants represent youth, pride and great returns while the Birds of Paradise are a symbol of freedom and optimism. Overall, the murals are meant to signify the spirit Malaysians had to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, a tribute to the front liners who are working hard to heal the country. The nature theme of the murals also complements the Oasis Garden concept that trails down the car park escalator stack.

An eye for detail: an important trait in every artist

“These few murals are only the beginning. We have more to paint, to beautify our rooftop parking and create instagram-worthy spots for our visitors,” said Jason Chin, Operations General Manager of Sunway Malls.

“Despite the unpredictable wet weather, we will get the colourful walls up in time as a warm greeting gesture come year end. For now, we hope that the community will continue to practice personal hygiene and stay safe so the curve will be flattened once again,” he added.
