A Morning by the River Planting Trees

NOTHING beats spending a morning by the river planting trees to help green Mother Earth.

Members of MPP MBSJ Zone 4 got off on an early morning start planting 100 Kelat Paya (wild cinnamon) trees along the banks of the Klang River in USJ1.

The initiative which is part of World Water Day had the volunteers plant the tree saplings in rows alongside the river.

Led by MPP MBSJ Zone 4 councillor Kamarul Hisham, the tree planting exercise was also attended by ADUN Subang Jaya Michelle Ng who joined in the tree planting.

MBSJ Landscape Department head Azlina Mat Salim also carried out a water quality sampling test and spared some time explaining how samples from the river were tested. She also briefed the volunteers on the biodiversity of the river and its importance to aquatic life in and around the river.

The project is part of the SJ Riverfront initiative from USJ1 right to PJS in Bandar Sunway spanning a length of 3.8km.
