The Subang Jaya Community Ambulance received a welcome boost of RM13,888 from the Chinese Oral Class group recently in support of its operations.
The group, led by Laoshi Tan Pin Tin, is based at the Senior Citizens Club Subang Jaya. According to Tan, this was the first time her students had initiated a fundraiser.
“It’s our way of supporting a worthy cause like the community ambulance,” she said, adding that the idea was sparked during one of their regular class sessions.
The donation drive saw students contributing generously when “the hat was passed around” to help raise funds for the community-run emergency service.
On hand to receive the contribution were SJ Beacon (Subang Jaya Community Ambulance) president TH Teoh, vice president Kelvin Chew and the team of paramedics.
In addition to the contribution from the Chinese Oral Class, MBSJ MPP3 councillor Ken Chia also presented a RM1,000 donation to the team at the same event.
The Subang Jaya Community Ambulance, operated by SJ Beacon, relies on public donations and community support to sustain its services in providing free emergency response to local residents.
