Giving back to the community breaks barriers. Giving encourages dialogue between people and communities in ways that many of us would not have ordinarily experienced before. When we choose to give, we often unite with people of all walks of life for a common cause.
At CITTA Mall, three charity activities–a charity run, a cookie baking workshop, and the launch of a Celebrity Preloved Store–that took place all on the same day last month bore witness to the adage that Malaysians have a generous loving heart.
This is the third consecutive year Lovely Disabled Home has organised the run to promote social inclusion amongst the public and persons with disability (PWD) as well as to raise funds for the home. Some 1,500 runners took part in the charity run and the home successfully raised close to RM120,000 to defray the home’s operational cost for next year.
The run’s chairperson Tan Mei Jiun said the run also saw 130 PWD taking part compared to the 50 in the previous year. Among the VIPs present were ADUN Bandar Utama Jamaliah Jamaluddin, ADUN Kampung Tunku Lim Yi Wei and Damansara MP Tony Pua.
On the mall’s charitable efforts, CITTA Mall Advertising & Promotions Assistant Manager Allison Chan said CITTA Mall is always supportive of the less fortunate and is open to be the venue host of other charitable events throughout the year. “We have seen the work Lovely Disabled Home is doing for its members as well as the altruistic enthusiasm among Leo members, so we’re proud to be the nucleus for both organisations to converge on when it comes to community service,” she said.
