EDITORIAL: CNY May Be Over, But Subang Jaya is Already Gearing Up for the Ultimate “Kongsi Raya” Vibe!

Can you believe Chinese New Year is officially over? We’ve barely recovered from our pineapple tart comas and the endless looping of dong dong chiang, but that doesn’t mean the festivities in Subang Jaya are slowing down. Not by a long shot!

Even though the mandatory 15 days of CNY have wrapped up, our community is already planning the ultimate comeback. What’s next on the agenda? A massive, muhibbah-style CNY-Raya crossover!

Over the next few weeks and straight into Hari Raya, community groups across Subang Jaya are gearing up for combined neighbourhood celebrations. Why celebrate once when you can throw the ultimate two-in-one bash? Not only does combining these festivals save everyone time and effort, but it also brings a special, grander feel to the party. Nothing screams “Malaysia Boleh!” louder than sharing rendang and mandarin oranges under one roof.

We Explored KL’s Gorgeous Secret Alleyway and Wondered: Can We Do This in Subang Jaya?

Speaking of festive vibes, during the long CNY break, we hopped into the car and took a quick 30-minute drive down to Petaling Street in Kuala Lumpur. Our mission? To check out the stunning murals and beautiful lanterns lighting up the Kwai Chai Hong alleyway.

Let us tell you, the ambience there is absolutely mesmerizing. It’s an Instagrammer’s paradise, bursting with positive energy that leaves you completely breathless and entertained. It’s supposed to be KL’s secret, but judging by the crowds, the secret is definitely out!

But as we were soaking in all those IG-worthy moments, a thought hit us: “What if we replicated this right here in Subang Jaya?”

Imagine our own vibrant, artistic alleyways filled with culture, history, and life. Of course, before we can even dream of stringing up lanterns or painting gorgeous murals, there’s one tiny hurdle we need to cross first; we have to clean up our backlanes and alleys.

It’s a massive initiative, but if Kwai Chai Hong can turn a forgotten alley into a bustling hotspot, who says Subang Jaya can’t do the same?

So, Subang-ites, what do you think? Are you ready for a massive CNY-Raya celebration, and more importantly, are we ready to roll up our sleeves and transform our backlanes into the next viral hotspot? Let us know!

It’s Been 2 Months Since Subang Jaya Got New Councillors & Here’s The Tea on Who’s Actually Doing Work!

Fuh! Can you believe it’s already been two months since our new Majlis Bandaraya Subang Jaya (MBSJ) councillors officially clocked in? Back at the beginning of the year, we felt all those exciting vibrations and big promises, but the real question on everyone’s mind is, are they actually walking the talk?

Spoiler alert: The talk has officially turned into ACTION. Most of our DUN Subang Jaya zone councillors are hitting the ground running, but some are definitely sprinting faster than others.

Zones 1 & 3: The Overachievers

If this were a group project, Zone 1 and Zone 3 are the ones doing the slides and presenting them. These two are currently leading the pack! They haven’t been messing around, immediately bringing in well-known community leaders from local neighbourhoods to join their committee. With their dream teams locked in for a solid two-year term, expect some serious gempak upgrades in these areas.

Zone 4: The Defending Champions

Then we have Zone 4, who are currently pacing themselves with smaller, calculated steps. If you’re from around here, you know they just flexed hard by coming out as champions for the 6th consecutive year in the MBSJ Best MPP (Majlis Perwakilan Penduduk) awards. When you’ve won six times in a row, you don’t need to sprint off the starting line, you just need to maintain that champion energy!

Zone 2 (Bandar Sunway): The Quiet Kid

And then… there’s Zone 2. Bandar Sunway has been noticeably quiet compared to the rest of the pack. But wait, we all know it’s always the quiet ones you have to watch out for! Word on the street is that the councillor for this zone might just have a secret weapon up his sleeve to jumpstart their progress.

Are they plotting a massive comeback to shake things up and eventually outdo the rest of DUN Subang Jaya? We’re definitely keeping our eyes peeled to see who takes the crown this term.

What do you guys think? Which zone do you live in, and have you seen your councillor in action yet? Drop your thoughts in the comments below and let us know if your neighbourhood is getting the TLC it deserves!

Here’s wishing everyone SELAMAT HARI RAYA! If you are travelling this coming holiday season, have a safe journey.
