Drug User Turned Trafficker Gets Nabbed with Ganja Worth RM1.05Mil

SUBANG Jaya police believe they have crushed a ganja (marijuana) trafficking syndicate with the arrest of a 32-year-old suspect in USJ4 on May 10 2024.

Subang Jaya OCPD ACP Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said the arrest yielded 35,972 grams of ganja which is believed to be meant for sale in Subang Jaya and Petaling Jaya.

“We believe the suspect is a drug user (he tested positive for THC marijuana test) who turned to trafficking the drug.”

“The 35,972grams of ganja is worth RM111,640.00. Once repacked into 10 grams packets,  it becomes 3,500 packets worth RM300 each. The street value for this is RM1.05mil,” Wan Azlan said at a press conference.

On May 10 2024, the Subang Jaya narcotics team had detained the suspect along Jalan USJ4/1. He was acting suspiciously when he was asked to stop. Ganja weighing 210 grams were found hidden in his waist pouch.

Vacuum packed ganja recovered at the suspect’s house

“The suspect, who is single but stays with his family then led police to his home in Petaling Jaya where 35,762 grams of ganja were recovered.”

“The suspect works as a customer relations officer with a private company. He has no previous criminal record,” he said.

Wan Azlan who was accompanied by Deputy OCPD Supt Mohd Fairus Jaafar further added that police also confiscated RM1,270 in cash and two vehicles (a car and motorcycle) worth RM10,000.

Smaller blocks recovered at the suspect’s house

“The suspect has been remanded for seven days under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Act. He is being investigated under the Section 39B Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. If found guilty he faces the death row or life imprisonment and 12 strokes of the rotan,” he added.

On a related matter, Wan Azlan said the Subang Jaya Police District had successfully made 901 arrests on individuals for crimes committed under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Poisons Act 1952 from January 1-May 14 this year.

“We seized 95.5 grams of heroin; 41,399.56 grams of ganja; 11,299 grams of syabu; 552.9 grams of ecstasy; 137.9 grams of erimin pills; 20.11 grams of yaba pills; 32.3 litres of ketum water; 0.5 litres of codeine with a value of RM618,463.00.

“We urge the public to provide us information on drug related crimes at our hotline 012-2087222,” he said.
