Hey! We are already in March and our Muslim brothers and sisters have started their fasting month. For the Muslims and non-Muslims, it’s the time to enjoy breaking fast together. There are many Ramadan Bazaars around town to shop for your favourite food items, so check them out. The list is on Page 5 of this edition.
March is expected to slow down the pace from February which saw us all over town at Chinese New Year gatherings. We will no doubt be just as busy this will also be the month to partake in some breaking of fasts at mosques and suraus around town but at a more manageable pace.
I recently tried my hand in pickleball after resisting any attempts by friends to try the sport. Being the newbie, it was fun making mistakes and making my “opponent/mentor” pick up the ball more than I did. Perhaps March will be the month for me to try it out under some coaching to see if it’s a sport I would like to indulge in.
MPP Zon 3 councillor Ken Chia and Penggerak Belia Selangor (PeBS) Subang Jaya chairman Christopher Johnson are already miles ahead with pickleball. They have even set their sights on making space available for newbies like me to try it out in neighbourhood courts. They are now working with MBSJ to give new life to underutilised badminton courts by converting them for pickleball. If this materialises, it means I do not have to wrestle with the many who are ahead with their bookings of indoor courts. I can just hop over to the outdoor courts in the neighbourhood padangs to learn the game.
Looks like March is not going to be so dull after all. The pace will pick up and we will follow the rhythm.
Here’s wishing all our Muslim brothers and sisters Selamat Menunaikan Ibadah Puasa. Have a good month ahead everyone.
