After 29 years of shaping young minds, Dr. Rammani a/p Karupiah bid an emotional farewell to her students and colleagues at SMK USJ 8 last month. The dedicated history teacher, who officially retires on 2 January 2026 at the age of 55, has spent the last eight years at the school nurturing students both inside and outside the classroom.
Known for her passion for history, Dr. Rammani has been an inspiring guide for generations of SPM students. Beyond academics, she also served as the Teacher Advisor for the LEO Club USJ 8 since 2022, mentoring students in leadership and community service.
Colleagues and students praised her unwavering commitment and heartfelt teaching style. “Dr. Rammani doesn’t just teach history; she teaches us to live it,” said one student.
School Headmaster Rozhan Zakaria described her as more than just a colleague. “Dr. Rammani is not just a colleague; she is also a friend,” he said, adding that her dedication and warmth had left a lasting impression on both students and staff alike.
Her career began at SMK (P) Taman Petaling in 1996, followed by SMK Puchong Perdana, before joining SMK USJ 8 in 2018. Over the years, she has been recognised with three Excellent Service Awards (APC) in 2002, 2012, and 2021.
Reflecting on her career, Dr. Rammani shared, “I hope my students will embrace history as a lifelong compass rather than just an examination subject, and grow into citizens who contribute with purpose and value to the nation.”
As she prepares to close this chapter, the legacy of Dr. Rammani’s dedication, guidance, and compassion will continue to resonate through the halls of SMK USJ 8 for years to come.
