EXPIRED COMPETENT DRIVING LICENSE OVER THREE YEARS RISKS RON95 SUBSIDY INELIGIBILITY

Transport Minister Anthony Loke said that Road Transport Department (JPJ) data showed that a total of 2.4 million CDL holders were currently in inactive status, meaning their licences had expired for more than three years.

“Of 15 million active driving licences, 925,421 of them have expired for less than three years,” he told a press conference here, today.

Of the 925,421 licences, a total of 551,688 had expired for less than a year, 219,092 for between one and two years, and 154,641 for between two and three years.

He added that CDL holders who failed to renew their licences for more than three years would be automatically blocked from receiving the subsidy, through the Ministry of Finance (MOF) system.

Loke stressed that the 925,000 drivers whose licences had lapsed but not exceeded three years should immediately renew them, especially those nearing the three-year mark.

“There are more than 154,000 licence holders who have not renewed their licences for almost three years. They are not eligible for the automatic RON95 subsidy, because when the licence is invalid, it will automatically be blocked through the MOF system,” he said.

Loke advised CDL holders whose licences have expired for less than three years to renew them immediately, to avoid having to re-sit the Driver Education Curriculum Part 2 and 3 (KPP02 and KPP03) tests.

He said that since the announcement of BUDI95 on Sept 22, JPJ had recorded 26,991 CDL renewal transactions through various channels, including the MyJPJ application, MySikap, kiosks and JPJ counters nationwide.

Loke also reminded Malaysians to check the expiry date of their CDL and renew it promptly.

On Monday, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that, beginning Sept 30, Malaysians will be able to purchase RON95 petrol at RM1.99 per litre.

For non-citizens, the price will be set at RM2.60 per litre from the same date.– BERNAMA
