A house owner who was away would have come home to find his house totally gutted if not for his neighbour’s attentiveness who noticed something was burning at the front portion of the property last night (October 5).
The fire which destroyed 70% of the front portion of the house and the top floor of the property was brought under control by the Fire & Rescue Department from SS17.
“We received a call for help at 8.44pm and arrived within 4mins. When we arrived, the fire was raging at the front portion and upper floor of the double-storey house.”
“We were assisted by fire engines from Petaling Jaya and Penchala. There was no one at home during the incident,” he said.
Syed Shahril said the owner was away at the time of the fire. He said an alert neighbour had noticed the fire and called for help.
“A team from TNB were also present to disconnect power supply to the area to prevent any untoward incidences while the firemen were fighting the fire.”
“The cause of fire is being investigated by our forensics team,” he said.
