Sunway Velocity Mall invites guests into a journey of prosperity and joyful reunion. Designed as a dynamic, circular layout, the Main Atrium symbolises continuity, movement, and togetherness which echoes the forward momentum of the Year of the Horse. Flowing architectural forms, layered walkways, and open gateways create a sense of embrace, guiding visitors seamlessly through the festive experiences as they explore, gather, and reconnect. Accented with lanterns, floral details, and contemporary interpretations of traditional design, the decor blends heritage with modern expression, reflecting a year that comes in strong, confident, and full of promise. The month-long celebration officially commenced with a launch officiated by HC Chan, CEO of Sunway Malls, who delivered an opening speech to mark the beginning of the year. This festive season, Sunway Malls honours the joy of togetherness and the shared pursuit of fortune and happiness, bringing the essence of Galloping into Prosperity to life through nostalgic moments and rewarding experiences for all.

Symbolising unity and collective momentum across Sunway Malls, all Central Managers stood together behind individual blocks bearing the names of their respective malls, representing a shared commitment to ushering in a prosperous year ahead. In a symbolic ceremonial moment, each Central Manager held a Golden Prosperity Key and together unlocked the prosperity, representing a united commitment towards progress, abundance, and new beginnings. The gesture was met with a dramatic reveal as confetti cascaded through the atrium, the Sunway Mall logos illuminated, and the 走马灯 (zǒu mǎ dēng) came to life with their rotating lights symbolising continuous flow of good fortune and forward movement.
At the heart of the launch stood the Living Shan Shui Horse Painting (山水骏马图), set in motion as a symbolic centrepiece of the celebration. As it turned, the movement represented 转大运 (zhuǎn dà yùn) which is the turning of great fortune in Chinese tradition. This gesture signifies progress, renewal, and the belief that prosperity begins when momentum is set in motion. As the entire atrium lit up in unison, the festive installation was unveiled in full splendour, officially ushering in a vibrant month of Chinese New Year celebrations at Sunway Malls.
Joining Chan during the launch gambit were the Central Managers of Sunway Malls, whose presence underscored the collaborative spirit of this momentous occasion – Jason Chin, Senior General Manager of Sunway Malls Selangor; Phang Sau Lian, Senior General Manager of Sunway Malls Kuala Lumpur; Chai Wen Yew, Senior General Manager of Sunway Malls Northern Region; KS Wong, Senior General Manager of Sunway Malls Southern Region.

Drawing a powerful parallel to the Year of the Horse, a striking showcase of 15 supercars including red Ferrari, Porches and Mustangs, encircling Sunway Velocity Mall brought the theme Galloping into Prosperity vividly to life. The display captured the spirit of a year driven by confidence, ambition, and momentum. Together, these collaborations enriched the celebration with a vibrant blend of culture, festivity, and distinctive experiences, reflecting a shared vision to create meaningful, joyous moments for all who took part.
The launch event continued with a powerful lion dance performance to usher in the new year. Much like the horse, the lion represents vitality and confidence, guiding the people into the year ahead with positivity and vigour. The performance was presented by Wan Seng Hang Dragon & Lion Arts, a respected name in Malaysia’s traditional dragon and lion dance heritage, led by renowned master craftsman Siow Ho Phiew, who is celebrated for his artistry and dedication to preserving the craft. To further deepen public appreciation of this cultural tradition, a special showcase highlighting the process of the lion costume making is displayed beside The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf (GF), offering visitors an educational glimpse into the intricate craftmanship behind the iconic lion dance.
Adding depth to the celebration, guests were immersed in a dynamic mixed cultural performance that reflected the harmony and shared aspirations of Malaysia’s diverse communities. The showcase opened with the refined tones of indigenous Borneo instruments, followed by the Indian dhol drums and the rhythmic beats of Malay kompang, and ending with traditional Chinese musical instruments, symbolising heritage and continuity. Each transition represented unity in diversity with different rhythms moving as one, echoing the collective pursuit of balance, abundance, and prosperity in the year ahead. As the music converged into a powerful finale, the performance embodied the essence of Galloping into Prosperity that shows strength through togetherness, progress through unity, and the belief that when communities move forward in harmony, prosperity follows.

At the heart of the programme is our Malaysia Book of Records attempt for the “Largest Horse Replica Made of Origami Angpao.” This landmark installation is a storytelling piece that symbolises prosperity, unity, and renewal, while championing sustainable art creation through recycling. Thousands of used and repurposed angpao packets are transformed into origami modules, collectively folded by the community.
