Going Ponggal at Mydin USJ1

SHOPPERS at Mydin USJ1 got a first-hand view of Ponggal celebrations last month when the hypermarket hosted a cooking competition the traditional way – with firewood and claypots.

Contestants got down to cooking rice boiled in milk. The first pot to boil and overflow wins the prize.

Mydin Mohamed Holdings Berhad Datin Dr Siti Hawa Mohd who joined the crowd in the competition got down to cooking her own pot of rice until it overflowed.

The air of festivities continued with dancing and singing performances which kept the crowd jiving to the beat.
