Retail giant Mydin and consumer goods leader Procter & Gamble (P&G) successfully raised close to RM88,000 for the Children’s Wish Society of Malaysia (CWS) to bring smiles and hope to children battling critical illnesses through their “Kami Bawa Senyuman – Jom Tunaikan Impian Kanak-Kanak” campaign.
The heartwarming nationwide initiative successfully raised RM87,839.07, with all proceeds channeled to CWS to fulfil the wishes of children living with life-threatening or terminal conditions.
In a simply ceremony at Mydin MITC, Melaka, Mydin executive director Dato’ Murad Ali Mydin handed a mock-cheque for the amount raised to CWS president TH Teoh.
The campaign turns everyday purchases into small acts of generosity—where every RM10 spent on P&G products at any Mydin outlet contributes 10 sen to CWS.
During the campaign launch in May, P&G Malaysia and Singapore Country Manager Nantha Kumaran Kalimuthu said the collaboration reflects the company’s long-standing commitment to supporting families beyond their everyday product needs.
“Partnering with Mydin and CWS allows us to help fulfil heartfelt wishes and bring hope to brave young individuals. Being part of these moments is deeply meaningful for all of us at P&G,” he said.
Mydin Managing Director Datuk Wira (Dr) Haji Ameer Ali Mydin echoed the sentiment, highlighting the role of businesses in making a social impact.
“Through our Mydin Prihatin initiatives, we continuously work with suppliers to amplify meaningful contributions. This campaign gives every shopper the chance to make a difference,” he said.
The Children’s Wish Society of Malaysia, based in Subang Jaya, works closely with medical teams at government hospitals to identify children under 18 with critical conditions. Wishes fulfilled in the past have ranged from toys and gadgets to family experiences and dream outings.
Teoh emphasised the importance of such efforts, “For these children, a simple wish can be a bright light during difficult treatments and long hospital stays. We are grateful to Mydin and P&G for championing this cause.”
