It’s now 34 days since we’ve all stayed home in the joint efforts to fight Covid-19. The Movement Control Order which was first implemented on March 18 2020 has restricted our movement in a bid to bring down the curve of infection from the “invisible” virus.
BUSY, BUSY, BUSY. That’s how anyone would describe Khoo Kah Jin’s time on a normal day. He travels for his work and continues to frequently head up north to check on his mother in Penang. With the MCO still in force, we caught up with Khoo who is “forced” to sit tight at home. We discovered that he is just as busy at home doing other things. Here’s his story:
“As a person who loves nature and hiking, the MCO has made me realise the importance of true freedom and to appreciate mobility.”
According to him, he finally made the decision to buy himself a new toy – an oven, which has got him excited to experiment grilling different types of meat and also to bake.
“The good thing about the MCO is that I finally have more time with the family especially during lunch and dinner. They can enjoy my cooking.”
“As a businessman, I can’t do it during normal working days except for weekends,” he shares.
On the current measures in place to fight the virus, Khoo says the authorities appear to be doing a good job controlling the spread of the pandemic.
“Malaysia has implemented strict controls with the MCO compared to other countries. Malaysians should also be commended for adhering to the order.”
“Life will be very different after the MCO is lifted. I believe everyone will be more appreciative of life and will not take anything for granted especially their health,” he says.
Health is more important than wealth and nothing is permanent in nature, Khoo concluded.
