The Lions Club of Subang Jaya (LCSJ) reached out to 120 households from Goodyear Court 6 through its inaugural LCSJ Kasih project, bringing much-needed relief and community spirit at SMK USJ 8 on a bright Sunday morning.
In collaboration with SMK USJ 8 and Goodyear Court 6 community leaders, the initiative distributed grocery aid packs worth a total of RM9,000. Each Kotak Sara Rahmah box contained daily essentials including rice, sugar, flour, cooking oil and canned food — all aimed at helping families cope with rising living costs.
The funds were raised through the generosity of Lions members, their families and friends, who donated their RM100 MyKasih government allocation to assist those in greater need.
Organising Chairperson Lion Wendy Lee said the project was part of LCSJ’s ongoing hunger relief efforts and a reflection of the community’s compassion.
“This project shows what can be achieved when people come together to share what they have for the benefit of others,” she said.
Goodyear Court 6 community leader Puan Azliana and her team identified the beneficiaries and coordinated the smooth collection and distribution of aid at the school grounds, assisted by Lions and Leos from nearby schools.
SMK USJ 8 headmaster Rozhan Zakaria expressed his appreciation for the collaboration, noting that more than half of the school’s students come from underprivileged families. He also thanked LCSJ for their continued support of the school’s Gerobok Kasih food bank, which provides essential items such as rice, flour, salt and sugar for students’ families in need.
Adding a thoughtful touch, the Lions also distributed two dozen cartons of pre-loved clothes to the residents of Goodyear Court 6, extending their helping hands a little further to those who could use it most.
