Subang Jaya Job Fair
By Michelle Ng
Everyone knows this – Covid-19 has impacted jobs. We have seen particular sectors such as the aviation industry conduct mass lay-offs. The hotel and tourism industry, too, have been hit hard. Our office can feel the effects with residents walking in to ask for aid as a result of recent unemployment.
According to a report by PNB research institute titled “Taking Cover: Covid-19 and Malaysian Economy”, unemployment recorded an increase to 5% as at April 2020. At that point, Malaysia was only two months into our war against Covid-19. This figure does not include employees who are made to take unpaid leave, pay cuts and so on.
I am interested in doing my part to solve this. So, with the help of MBSJ and corporate partners such as BG Capital Holdings, Damen together with tech sponsor, Hauz, we will be organising Subang Jaya’s first Job Fair, details of which are as follows:-
Virtual Job Fair
Date: 8, 9, 10 December 2020
Time: 9am to 4pm
Place: Online (link will be sent to registered jobseekers)
Date: 19 December 2020
Time: 10am to 9pm

Jobseekers can register through the following link: https://rb.gy/j9otkm
We are pleased to inform that as at the time of writing, 50 companies have registered 1200 jobs. A total of 500 jobseekers have registered so far.
Amongst the companies registered are Sunway, Allianz, Nirvana, Jaya Grocer, TOKAI, Macfood and Al-Ikhsan Sports. Subang based companies such as Sri Melur and Berani Guard will also be taking part.
I believe that helping our residents secure jobs is the most sustainable way forward. In these difficult times, yes, handouts are needed as temporary relief, but we must find a long-term solution, which, to me, takes the form of jobs.
If you have friends or family members who are looking for work, please encourage them to sign up for the Job Fair! Please also help us get the word out to as many people as possible! Do not miss this opportunity!
Amongst the types of jobs available are sales, marketing, accounting, human resource, operations, business development, customer care, admin, research and development, logistics, clinic assistant, quality control, industrial designer, store crew and kitchen crew
