The Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) has renewed its solid waste management contract with KDEB Waste Management (KDEBWM) following the expiry of the previous seven-year agreement, with the new contract set to run from 1 January 2026 to 31 December 2032.
Subang Jaya Mayor Dato’ Amirul Azizan Dato’ Sri Abdul Rahim said the renewed contract will cost MBSJ RM82.9 million annually, an increase from RM73.3 million per year under the previous agreement.
He said the higher allocation reflects expanded service coverage and increasing operational demands in Subang Jaya, a city experiencing sustained population growth and urban development.
“Under the new contract, an additional RM3 million will be allocated for solid waste collection, while RM6.6 million will be channelled towards enhanced cleaning services in public areas,” Amirul said.
He added that KDEB’s expanded scope of work will include taking over several responsibilities previously managed by MBSJ, including the maintenance and cleanliness of parks and playgrounds in residential areas, upkeep of public football fields, road cleaning, and drain cleaning.
According to Amirul, the increased allocation will also cover the clearing of bulky waste from residential and industrial areas, as well as from critical commercial locations such as SS15/4 Subang Jaya, Jalan Bandar, Pusat Bandar Puchong, Jalan SP3, Saujana Puchong, and Jalan SR7, Serdang Raya.
“There will also be a restructuring of zone contractors to align more closely with the areas under the respective councillors,” he said.
Amirul was speaking in conjunction with KDEBWM’s handover of 171 new waste collection vehicles to MBSJ, comprising 77 compactor trucks and 94 armroll trucks, which will be deployed to support service delivery under the renewed contract.
He said the deployment of the new fleet is expected to improve operational efficiency, reduce service disruptions, and ensure more consistent service coverage across residential, commercial, industrial, and high-impact zones within MBSJ’s jurisdiction.
KDEBWM Chief Operating Officer (Corporate Services) Ahmad Rizal Mohd Daud said the handover reflects the company’s readiness and commitment to meeting the enhanced service standards outlined in the new contract.
