Mosques and Suraus Play an Important Role to Dispel Falsehood on Social Media

APRIL 9 2023: Mosques and suraus play an important role to dispel falsehoods on social media that threaten racial and religious harmony, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said today.

Acryl Sani who is also the Nazir for Masjid An-Nur in USJ4 said it was important for the leaders in places of worship like mosques and suraus to promote harmony, peace and respect among Malaysians irrespective of their religion or race.

He was saying this after hosting ADUN Subang Jaya Michelle Ng at Masjid An-Nur to disburse funding for Hari Raya to seven mosques and 23 suraus in Subang Jaya. Each mosque received RM2,000 while each surau received RM1,000 from Michelle.

“It is important for us as leaders in places of worship to fight against the falsehoods spread through social media and certain media organisation who are propagating false and fake news.”

“We play an important role as citizens of this country to live in peace and harmony with each and everyone,” he said.

Michelle’s office has spent RM171,000 over the last five years to disburse funds during Ramadan to mosques and suraus in the constituency. Another RM150,000 has been spent to help with various repairs and restoration work for mosques and suraus.
