Open Burning at Metal Scrapyard Cause of Burning Smell Detected in Subang Jaya

Open burning of scraps at a metal scrapyard company along Jalan Subang 8, Taman Perindustrian Subang has been identified as the cause of the smoky air detected by residents, mainly those living in USJ earlier last night.

Subang Jaya Fire and Rescue Department station chief Syed Shahril Anuar Syed Sulaiman said personnel sent out to check for open burning in the vicinity found a worker burning rubbish which included plastic, wood and other items within the compound of the metal scrapyard.

“We immediately put out the fire.”

“We will be filing a report with the Department of Environment for the open burning case,” he said.

Earlier, USJ residents raised the alarm when they smelled smoke in the air which became unbearable at a certain point.
