RM47.9mil Pipe Upgrade Project Set to Benefit Four Subang Jaya Neighbourhoods

A major infrastructure upgrade is on the horizon for Subang Jaya as Air Selangor embarks on a RM47.9 million project to replace 43,000 meters of aging pipeline across four neighbourhoods — SS13, SS14, SS15, and SS17.

The project, expected to be completed by May 2026, involves the installation of new Ductile Iron pipes, which have a life expectancy of 50 to 70 years, significantly improving the reliability of the water supply system.

ADUN Subang Jaya Michelle Ng said the replacement works were necessary due to the deteriorating condition of the current Asbestos Cement and Mild Steel pipes, which are prone to leaks and unable to withstand current water pressure levels.

“Residents have long suffered from low water pressure and inconsistent water quality,” she said. “These upgrades are crucial for ensuring a stable and clean supply moving forward.”

In addition to the main pipeline replacement, new High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) communication pipes will be installed leading to individual water meters. Existing meter stands will also be upgraded to stainless steel versions and relocated for easier access and reading.

Michelle assured residents that water supply will not be disrupted during the works. The new pipeline will be laid parallel to the existing infrastructure, allowing for a seamless transition once installation is complete.

Work across the four neighbourhoods will be carried out simultaneously, with daytime operations in residential areas and night-time works scheduled in commercial zones to minimise inconvenience.

“This is one of the most comprehensive water infrastructure projects in Subang Jaya in recent years, and it will make a lasting difference for our community,” Michelle added.
