State Local Government, Public Transportation and New Village Development Committee chairman Ng Sze Han said, currently, the committee was drafting the bill on the management of solid wastes and public cleansing, towards this purpose.
‘’The Housing and Local government Ministry (KPKT) have been informed of this aspiration, to request for a consultation on the matter.
‘’The implementation will see the public separating their solid wastes following types, namely, materials than can be recycled, wastes and bulk wastes while waiting for the stipulated collection day,’’ he told the Selangor State Assembly here today.
He said this when answering to a question from Chua Wei Kiat (PKR-Rawang) on the implementation of the solid waste separation regulation in the state.
Commenting further, Ng said awareness on separating solid wastes among the people of Selangor was still low despite awareness campaigns conducted.
‘’Residents refuse to separate their solid wastes to avoid coughing up additional costs to buy plastic (bags) with different colours for waste separations,’’ he added.– BERNAMA
