A predawn fire in USJ4 claimed its first victim in Subang Jaya this year when a 72-year-old senior citizen died in the blaze.
Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) station chief Syed Shahril Anuar Syed Sulaiman who was at the scene of the fire said one victim was successfully rescued from the roof at the back of the house. The other victim was found in the toilet and was brought out by rescuers.
“We received an emergency call for help at 1.15am and arrived in 5 minutes at the scene. The front porch of two houses side-by-side were engulfed in flames.”
“Firemen successfully rescued the husband from the first house. His wife was found in the toilet and brought out by firemen. She was pronounced dead by the medical team from Hospital Sg Buluh later,” he said.
Syed Shahril said 60% of the porch at the first house was damaged by the fire. A car parked in the porch was left with just its skeletal frame.
“The porch of the second house sustained 30% damage. Two cars were a write-off while another car was damaged 20%.”
“Firemen from Subang Jaya and Puchong fought hard to control the blaze and successfully extinguished the flames without any other incident,” he added.
Syed Shahril said the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department forensics and K9 unit took over the site for further investigations.
