Spanking New RM95,000 Skateboard Park in USJ1

YES! You read that right. Skateboarders now have a spanking new “build to specifications” facility at Laman Sukan USJ1 to enjoy their sport.

The RM95,500 newfacility was built to replace the old dilapidated structures for the sport with funds from the Selangor Sports Council, according to ADUN Subang Jaya Michelle Ng.

“The sports council had asked for each constituency in Selangor to identify a suitable area to upgrade or build new sports infrastructure. Because there weren’t many skateboard parks in Petaling and the one we have in USJ1 was dilapidated and dangerous to use any more, my office had applied to the sports council and MBSJ for the upgrade.”

“In October 2022, our application was approved and work on upgrading the park started on November 14 2022 itself. Skateboarders who used the USJ1 facility were consulted and feedback was sought from them by the contractors and consultants involved in the planning and design of the new facility,” she said.

Michelle said work on the park upgrade was completed on Mac 22 at a total cost of RM95,500.

She said the skateboard park was not only frequented by skateboarding enthusiasts from Subang Jaya but also those from Petaling Jaya, Shah Alam and Puchong.

“We will also be organising a Skateboarding Competition in June this year. A budget of RM15,000 from the ADUN Subang Jaya office, LeBS Subang Jaya and MPP Zon 4 have been set aside to organize this event together with prizes for the winners.”

“We will be announcing the details of the competition soon,” she said.
