STAYING HOME, STAYING SAFE

Husband and wife Tony Wong and Wan Yoke Ann have been diligently observing the Movement Control Order since March 18 2020.They have stopped going out for social activities except to buy groceries and newspapers.

Both realise the importance of abiding by the MCO and the responsibility that the government has placed in the hands of the public to help flatten the Covid-19 curve in the country.

What keeps them occupied during the day throughout the duration of the MCO?

“It’s not a problem for me to stay home. We have two grandchildren staying with us and they keep us busy throughout the day.”

“I do more reading. I read the newspapers, books and even go online to catch the latest news. I am taking this MCO period to catch up on sleep as well,” 75-year-old Tony said.

Tony said as a retiree he stays home and only runs out to buy groceries or to pick up his newspapers.

During the first phase of the MCO, Yoke Ann helped out with minding her grandchildren in Bandar Utama but since the onset of Phase 2, she has returned to the family home in SS15.

“My daughter-in-law cooks for us. We stay home and do not go out unnecessarily,” she said.

Tony and Yoke Ann are two responsible senior citizens who continue to abide by the MCO. They realise they too have a role to play in fighting the Covic-19 pandemic by Staying Home and Staying Safe.
