SUBANG JAYA’S BUBUR LAMBUK SEASON IS BACK, AND COMMUNITIES ARE COOKING HUNDREDS OF PACKS FOR IFTAR

It’s bubur lambuk season again, and Subang Jaya is basically smelling like Ramadan at every corner.

As Muslims prepare for iftar, communities around Subang Jaya have been coming together – giant pots, long stirring paddles, and all – to cook and pack the beloved bubur lambuk for distribution to those breaking their fast later in the day.

Over in PJS9, the Rukun Tetangga teamed up with Surau Al-Mukminin and cooked up nearly 600 packs of bubur lambuk. The porridge is set to be distributed to Muslims in the area, including residents of PJS9 as well as personnel at the Bandar Sunway Police Station.

Meanwhile, the SS13 flats community also got in on the Ramadan spirit. Surau Al-Huda joined hands with MBSJ’s MPP Zon 1 to prepare close to 400 packs. These were set aside for the surau community and also distributed to frontliners covering the police station and Balai Bomba & Penyelamat in SS17. Councillor Ken Chia, who arrived early, didn’t just drop by for a photo-op; he jumped in to help with preparation and packing alongside the volunteers.

And in another heartwarming collaboration, MBSJ’s MPP Zon 3 partnered with Summit USJ and Masjid Al-Falah to cook several huge pots of bubur lambuk this year. The distribution includes fellow Muslims in the community, with portions also going to the balai polis and Balai Bomba & Penyelamat in SS17. Councillor Christopher Joseph and his team spent the morning on the ground, cooking together with volunteers from the mosque and the shopping mall.

In Ramadan, bubur lambuk isn’t just food. It’s a symbol of giving, effort, and unity. And if there’s one thing Subang Jaya proves every year, it’s that when a community cooks together, the bubur lambuk somehow tastes even better.
