Nearly 200 residents from Subang Jaya, Bandar Sunway and USJ turned a Chinese New Year celebration into a full-on “muhibbah moment” when they gathered to lou sang together — tossing for good health and prosperity all at once at NU Empire.
A massive toss, one community
The Chinese New Year Lou Sang gathering was hosted by NU Empire and co-organised with the Senior Citizens Club of Subang Jaya and SJEcho, drawing close to 200 people to a single, synchronized toss.
With chopsticks up in the air and everyone shouting their well-wishes together, it was easily one of the biggest lou sang moments Subang Jaya has seen this year.
Leaders showed up for the muhibbah
NU Empire centre manager Saari Baharom and his team were praised as standout hosts, especially as the event took place during the Muslim Ramadan fasting month — making the thoughtful coordination even more meaningful.
Subang MP Wong Chen, MBSJ councillors Ken Chia (Zon 1) and Christopher Joseph (Zon 3), and Senior Citizens Club of Subang Jaya president Oon Woo Ming were among the community figures present, alongside their teams.
Performances that had people gasping
Guests were treated to a line-up of performances by the Senior Citizens Club of Subang Jaya, adding a warm community touch to the afternoon.
A dragon dance and a mask-changing performer then took things up a notch — leaving the crowd audibly amazed as the show unfolded.
A considerate ending to the afternoon
As the gathering wrapped up, light refreshments were served for non-Muslim guests, keeping the event inclusive while respecting those observing Ramadan.
