SUBANG MP Wong Chen is scheduled for a one-to-one Special Chambers meeting with the Minister of Health Datuk Seri Dr. Dzulkefly Ahmad this Thursday Feb 6 at 2pm to iron out and seek details for Subang Jaya’s Klinik Kesihatan.
“I am urging the government (Health Ministry) to provide us a timeline and details for the construction of the Klinik Kesihatan that has been for Subang Jaya in USJ1.”
“Who has the tender been awarded to? When is the ground-breaking ceremony?,” he said.
According to Wong Chen, during Budget 2024 the Deputy Health Minister had confirmed that the tender for the Klinik Kesihatan would be carried out in August 2024 and the ground-breaking ceremony would be held in early 2025.
“During my town hall sessions both in Subang Jaya and Kinrara, a resident in Bandar Kinrara 5 (BK5) had requested that a Klinik Kesihatan also be built for DUN Kinrara.”
“I agree with this suggestion as the population in Kinrara and Subang Jaya are in the ageing population bracket,” he said.
Wong Chen appealed to the government to consider building another Klinik Kesihatan for the Kinrara population as well.
“According to the Department of Statistics data in 2020, 9% of the population in Parlimen Subang are senior citizens. The percentage of senior citizens in my constituency is bound to have increased since then.”
“We have a population of 481,000 in Parlimen Subang and we are the third largest constituency in the country based on population.” he added.
The nearest government clinics according to Wong Chen are located outside Subang – Batu 14 Puchong, Taman Medan or Kelana Jaya; while the more expensive option is to seek medical attention at the two private hospitals in the constituency.
“Not everyone in Subang are in the upper M40 and T20 categories.”
“My meeting with the Health Minister will be to sort out the timeline and details of the construction of our Klinik Kesihatan for USJ1 and also to explore the possibility of building another for Kinrara,” he added.
