The Senior Citizens Club Subang Jaya (SCCSJ) received a timely boost recently when Sunway Pyramid contributed RM20,000 to support the club’s activities and improve its clubhouse facilities in USJ6.
The contribution was presented by Sunway Malls general manager (marketing and business innovation) Loo Hoey Theen to SCCSJ president Oon Woo Ming in a simple ceremony held at Sunway Pyramid last month.
Loo said the funds were part of Sunway Malls’ corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative in conjunction with this year’s Hari Raya celebrations, adding that SCCSJ was identified as the sole beneficiary under the mall’s festive CSR programme.
“We are always looking for meaningful ways to give back to the community. The Senior Citizens Club Subang Jaya plays a vital role in keeping our seniors active, connected, and engaged; and we are happy to support their efforts,” she said.
The USJ6 clubhouse has long served as a hub of activity for senior citizens in the neighbourhood, offering regular programmes such as tai chi, karaoke, line dancing, health talks, and festive gatherings.
Oon expressed gratitude to Sunway Pyramid for the generous donation, saying it would go a long way in upgrading facilities and expanding programmes for the benefit of members.
“This donation is a wonderful gift for our members. It allows us to enhance our space and bring in more activities that will keep our seniors physically, mentally and socially active,” Oon said.
The club, which has been operating for over two decades, continues to be a strong pillar of support for Subang Jaya’s ageing community, promoting healthy lifestyles and social participation among its members.
With the new funding, SCCSJ is planning several upgrades, including new equipment, improved seating areas, and additional wellness-based programmes for its growing membership.
If you’re a senior citizen in Subang Jaya looking to expand your circle of friends and a reason to stay active, the USJ6-based Senior Citizens Club offers just that, and more. From birthday potlucks to Mandarin and computer classes, there’s always something to do. Members also enjoy occasional trips and community gatherings. It’s a warm space to learn, laugh, and live fully in your golden years.
