Sunway City has a brand new heartbeat. Sunway Square Mall flung its doors open today and the buzz is unmistakable — a fresh four-level community mall packed with energy, colour and the unmistakable charm of its quirky new mascot, Squarrel.
Spanning more than 320,000 square feet and filled with over 130 tenants, the mall is shaping up to be the new go-to destination. From Village Grocer’s fresh produce to adrenaline workouts at BUMP Bouldering, and creative self-discovery at Tutu Toe Dance Academy, the space blends shopping with lifestyle in a way that feels designed for everyday living.
But the real showstopper is the 24-hour Library by BookXcess featuring Kenny Hills Bakers, already drawing students and night owls eager for a cosy corner to study, snack or unwind.
And then there’s Squarrel — the cheeky, chubby township mascot born from the imagination of comic artist Ernest Ng. The little square creature is already trending on social media thanks to exclusive opening-day merchandise flying off the shelves.
To celebrate the launch, Sunway Square Mall has rolled out a string of grand-opening perks:
free parking,
opening-weekend freebies,
tenant giveaways,
limited-edition Squarrel keychains,
and a massive Spend & Redeem Campaign offering everything from iPads to a PS5.
The festivities continue with three major events: Hoholand, Sunset in the City, and a lakeside New Year’s Eve countdown complete with performances, bazaars and fireworks.
Sunway Square Mall isn’t just another shopping centre — it’s a people-first hub designed for connection, creativity and community life. And judging by today’s turnout, Sunway City is more than ready for its newest destination.
