It’s not every day you get to celebrate two major festivities in one night but Summit USJ made it happen with a special Lou Sang & Iftar ceremony that brought Chinese New Year cheer and Ramadan’s togetherness under one roof.
With a stage backdrop featuring both Chinese New Year elements and the Holy Month of Ramadan, the mall quite literally set the scene for a muhibbah evening centred on unity, food, and community spirit.
Summit USJ general manager Anthony Lew signaled the start of the event, which began with the call to prayer before Muslim staff and guests broke fast with a simple spread of dates, cakes, and drinks.
And just when everyone had quenched their thirst and settled in, the celebration shifted gears. Invited guests joined Anthony on stage for a Lou Sang session, followed by an energetic lion dance performance that started on stage before making its way to the dining tables.
One of the sweetest moments of the night came when young guests from Pertubuhan Rahomah Darul Fakir lit up as the lion dancers stopped by to offer them mandarin oranges; a small gesture that had a big impact.
The evening then continued with a proper dinner, before Anthony wrapped up the programme by handing out duit raya to the children, drawing smiles all around.
Also present to support the event were MBSJ councillors Ken Chia (MPP Zon 1), Christopher Joseph (MPP Zon 3) and Zulfadzlee Shah Shaharuddin (MPP Zon 4), along with Balai Bomba & Penyelamat Subang Jaya chief Muhammad Iskandar Zul Akbar Abdul Aziz, DSP Tan Seng Guan from IPD Subang Jaya and USJ8 Police Station chief Insp Shahidan Abd Wahab.
In a time when unity matters more than ever, Summit USJ’s Lou Sang & Iftar night proved that celebrating together across cultures and traditions can be as meaningful as it is memorable.
