THE Subang Jaya Community Ambulance (SJ Beacon) got a boost of RM5,000 from the USJ9 community at their Chinese New Year gathering last night (Feb 25).
The contribution was made by the USJ9 Residents Association and Rukun Tetangga as part of their continuous support for the invaluable service the ambulance provides for not only their neighbourhood but also across Subang Jaya.
Subang MP Wong Chen and ADUN Subang Jaya Michelle Ng were also present to witness the cheque presentation.
Wong Chen announced that his office would disburse a special allocation of RM20,000 to the community ambulance to help maintain its service. Michelle also announced her allocation of RM10,000 to the cause.
Another RM2,000 was pledged by a USJ9 resident who was attending the function.
USJ9 Residents Association chairman Anthony Gunapalan urged residents to contribute RM10 per month to the ambulance service.
“RM10 a month is not a lot of money from each and everyone of us but if everyone of us in Subang Jaya does that, we can continue to benefit from the services the community ambulance provides during medical emergencies.”“Today, it saves a life of someone we may not know. Tomorrow, it may be our lives the ambulance paramedics save,” he said.
SJ Beacon president TH Teoh said the community ambulance needs at least RM25,000 a month to continue providing medical emergency services in Subang Jaya.
“Having an ambulance service dedicated to serving Subang Jaya saves many lives. But we are facing a crunch. Funds to run the service is unfortunately inadequate to keep it running.”
“We may have to cease operations in less than six months from now if we are unable to raise the funds needed to provide this life-saving service,” he said.
Teoh said members of the public can donate to ๐๐๐ซ๐ฌ๐๐ญ๐ฎ๐๐ง ๐๐๐ง๐ญ๐ฎ๐๐ง ๐๐๐๐๐ฆ๐๐ฌ๐๐ง ๐๐๐ง ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐๐ ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐ข ๐๐ฎ๐๐๐ง๐ ๐๐๐ฒ๐ ๐ฏ๐ข๐ ๐ข๐ญ๐ฌ ๐๐๐๐ ๐/๐ ๐๐จ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐จ๐ซ ๐ฌ๐๐๐ง ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐๐ ๐๐จ๐๐ to donate directly as well.
