SUBANG JAYA, APRIL 27 2023: A Proton Satria which was being driven around USJ suspiciously landed up crashing at the Putra Heights exit along the Elite Highway early this morning.
Two men and a woman were seriously injured in the crash while a 4-year-old child escaped with light injuries.
But here’s the twist to the story behind the earlier “police and thief” chase.
According to Subang Jaya OCPD ACP Wan Azlan Wan Mamat, the Proton Satria the “victims” were driving in was reported stolen in Shah Alam and all three adults had criminal records. One of them was wanted for a drug related case in Hulu Selangor.
“A police patrol car spotted the vehicle being driven suspiciously at 1.05am around USJ. The patrol car turned on its siren and blue lights to signal the vehicle in front to stop for checks.”
“But the driver of the vehicle decided to make a run for it. He drove the car through the Seafield Tol gate with our police patrol car in hot pursuit,” he said in a statement.
Wan Azlan said the driver lost control of his vehicle near the Putra Heights exit and the vehicle crashed at the road shoulder.
“The two male and one female suspect sustained serious injuries from the crash. They are in their 20s and 30s. The 4-year-old child escaped with light injuries.”
“All three adult suspects are warded at the hospital and have yet to regain consciousness,” he added.
Wan Azlan said the suspects are being investigated under Seksyen 186/279 of the Penal Code for obstructing a civil servant from carrying out his duties and also for driving recklessly.
He urged anyone with information related to the case to contact IPD Subang Jaya at 03-78627100.
