EXCLUSIVE REPORT: SUBANG JAYA SAYS NO TO DRUGS

Subang Jaya Municipal Council launches “Say No to Drugs” Campaign in partnership with several enforcement agencies and entertainment outlets

THE Subang Jaya Municipal Council has kicked-off an extensive “Say No to Drugs” campaign to clean up the municipality of drug abuse especially in entertainment outlets, MPSJ president Noraini Roslan said.

This initiative which comes ahead of the municipality’s upgrade to city status is aimed at creating awareness on the dangers and risks of drug abuse.

Noraini said the campaign which will have MPSJ take the lead with the Selangor Anti-Drug Agency will be carried out in partnership with owners and operators of entertainment outlets and event organisers.

“The police will also play a big role in this campaign. We aim to raise public awareness that they can have their fun in entertainment outlets and events without having to use drugs.”

“The awareness campaign will reach out to the general public but will also address drug abuse among teenagers,” she said to SJEcho.

Noraini said the campaign was aimed at making Subang Jaya drug-free.

“Clean fun is cool. Drugs are for fools.”

“Owners and operators of entertainment outlets and events have agreed to come on board with us to make their premises drug free. It is a win-win partnership between the government agencies and private operators involved,” she added.

It is understood this initiative is also being taken up by the Petaling Jaya City Council and Kuala Lumpur City Hall.

The soon-to-be Subang Jaya City Council is the first to launch this campaign.
