FOUR men were arrested on April 13 2023 after a report was lodged over the theft of telecommunication cables worth RM15,000 in SS15 Subang Jaya.
According to Subang Jaya OCPD ACP Wan Azlan Wan Mamat, police received a report from a telecommunications company that several types of cables had been found cut and stolen during routine checks on their assets.
“Cables the size of 0.4mm and 0.5mm with an estimated length of 250m each were reported stolen.”
“The total loss was estimated at RM15,000,” he said in a statement.
On April 13, a police team from the Subang Jaya station arrested three Malaysians in Shah Alam and an Indian national at a scrapyard.
“All four suspects aged between 20-35 confessed to the theft on April 12 and also eight other cable thefts around Subang Jaya.”
“Officers recovered tools used to steal the cables. We also recovered We also recovered 350kg of copper strips estimated to be worth RM11,000 from the suspects,” he added.
Wan Azlan said police also seized two vehicles used by the suspects.
The suspects are being investigated under Sek 379 of the Penal Code for theft. If found guilty by the courts, the suspects face a jail sentence of up to seven years and/or a fine.
