A suspect was detained by members of the Kawasan Rukun Tetangga Angsana USJ1 and later arrested by Subang Jaya police after he was allegedly captured on CCTV stealing a phone while at a mobile accessories shop in the area.
The suspect was captured on CCTV reaching out for a mobile phone used by the shop to top up reloads for customers while the shop assistant was distracted.
He had entered the shop and asked about a screen protector for his phone. While the staff checked for availability of stock, the suspect stole the phone and calmly walked out after being told the shop had no stock of the item he had asked for.
His misdeed was however captured on mobile phone and the shop owner Zaiful Asmera (who is also a member of the KRT Angsana USJ1) lodge a police report on Sept 1 2024.
Subang Jaya OCPD ACP Wan Azlan Wan Mamat had confirmed receiving the police report. He said personnel had been assigned to trace the suspect.
On Sept 3 2024 at around 630pm, Zaiful had informed the police that the suspect who was spotted in the Angsana USJ1 area was detained by members of the Rukun Tetangga and the community there.
The suspect who appeared unharmed was later handed over to the police.
