SHARING explicit and unauthorised viral videos and photographs on social media of the fatal shooting of a 32-year-old man in Bandar Sunway can land you in trouble with the law.
Subang Jaya OCPD ACP Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said police had detected the sharing of explicit videos and photographs of the fatal shooting incident on social media and the authorities are not amused.
“An officer detected several viral videos and photographs on social media on June 16 of the fatal shooting which is being investigated under Sek 302 of the Penal Code.”
“A police report has been lodged under Sek 504 of the Penal Code and Sek 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act,” he said, adding that the penalty was two years jail or a fine of RM50,000 or both.
Wan Azlan cautioned netizens against making any speculation over the fatal shooting incident which has been shared on social media.
“We urge netizens and the public to help us if they have information of the fatal shooting incident.”
