A 20-year-old Yemenis man was arrested by Subang Jaya police for allegedly molesting two female shoppers at a popular shopping mall in Bandar Sunway on July 6 2023.
Subang Jaya OCPD ACP Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said the suspect was detained by the shopping mall security team after both the 17-year-old and 18-year-old female victims who are university students lodged a complain with the mall.
“The suspect allegedly molested the two victims at a retail outlet in the mall. Both victims lodged a complain and the 20-year-old suspect was detained. The suspect did not attempt to escape when mall security approached him”
“The suspect had no identification documents on him and is unemployed. He has been remanded for 14 days until July 20 2023 to facilitate investigations,” he said.
Wan Azlan said the suspect was being investigated under Section 354 of the Penal Code.
Section 354 of the Penal Code states: Whoever assaults or uses criminal force to any person, intending to outrage or knowing it to be likely that he will thereby outrage the modesty of that person, shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to ten years or with fine or with whipping or with any two of such punishments.
