Everyone came in support of raising much needed funds for the Children’s Wish Society of Malaysia, a Subang Jaya based national charity that fulfills wishes of terminally ill children across the country.
Everyone came to enjoy the King of Fruits, putting aside their diet and enjoying themselves to the feast for a good cause.
Deputy Minister of Women, Family and Community Development Hannah Yeoh, Subang MP Wong Chen, ADUN Subang Jaya Michelle Ng and Kuala Lumpur Mayor Dato Nor Hisham Ahmad Dahlan were among the main guests at the launch on the first day.
“The JOM Durian annual fundraising event in partnership with Summit USJ is becoming more important than ever to help us raise sufficient funds to meet the increasing number of wishes we are receiving from all over the country.”
“With the funds raised, it is our hope that we will be able to fulfill every wish we receive, no matter where they are coming from in the country,” he said, adding that the 850 wishes had been fulfilled since the inception of the society.
In his speech, Teoh said the society was planning to revive its supporters programme to engage with donors and give them the opportunity to contribute to wishes via an annual contribution. He said more details would be revealed soon.
Jom Durian 12 was supported by Summit USJ and SJEcho in partnership with the Subang Jaya Municipal Council. It holds the record for being the biggest charity durian fest in the country.
