SHAH ALAM, July 30 — Selangor police have issued a total of 74 permits throughout the state to hold state election campaigns and ceramah or political talks, as of yesterday.
Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the data was obtained from monitoring carried out, with 34 permits involving campaign activities while the rest were for rallies.
“We have not detected any campaigns or talks (planned) without a permit so far. Police advise candidates in the running and the community to always respect and obey the laws that have been set during the state election,” he said in a statement today.
He also reminded candidates to avoid touching on issues involving the 3Rs (religion, royalty and race) or making any provocations that could cause unwanted incidents as well as threaten public safety and order.– BERNAMA
