BUDI95: JPJ TO EXTEND COUNTER OPERATING HOURS NATIONWIDE

Its director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli said the extended counter hours will take effect this Saturday (Sept 27) and run until Oct 26, 2025, at all JPJ state offices and branches nationwide.

“JPJ is prepared to extend the operating hours of counters handling driving licence and related services on Fridays and Saturdays in Kelantan, Terengganu, and Kedah, and on Saturdays and Sundays in other states,” he said.

“This is to provide greater convenience and flexibility to the public, especially for those who face time constraints on weekdays to renew their driving licences,” he said in a statement today.

Aedy Fadly said there are currently 2.3 million Competent Driving Licence (CDL) holders with inactive status, whose licences have expired for more than three years, while 15.2 million CDL holders

“JPJ would like to remind licence holders whose validity has lapsed for more than three years that they are required to re-sit the Driver Education Curriculum Part 2 and 3 (KPP02 and KPP03) tests at any nearby driving institute to obtain or reactivate their licence,” he said.

For driving licence holders whose validity has not exceeded three years, Aedy Fadly urged them to immediately renew their licences through the MyJPJ application, MySikap portal, or kiosks, without the need to appear in person at counters.

“With this initiative, JPJ is confident it can help the public benefit more fully from the government’s announced measures, while also improving compliance with road laws through the enforcement of valid driving licences,” he said.

Earlier today, Anwar announced that the price of RON95 petrol would be reduced to RM1.99 per litre from RM2.05 per litre, effective Sept 30, under the BUDI95 initiative.

All Malaysians with a valid driving licence are eligible for the subsidy. Based on data from JPJ and the National Registration Department, more than 16 million people are expected to benefit from the BUDI95 initiative.– BERNAMA
