Container Carrying Plastic Pellets Razed along Elite Highway

BILLOWING black smoke that could be seen from far caused some concern among residents in Subang Jaya earlier this evening.

Some had thought it was smoke coming from an open burning site or that it was a structural fire.

But the smoke was actually from a fire that had engulfed a container that was transporting plastic pellets along the Elite Highway.

Subang Jaya Fire & Rescue Department chief Syed Shahril Anuar Syed Sulaiman confirmed the incident at the Elite Highway Putra Heights to Shah Alam exit.

“We arrived at the location at 6.29pm after receiving a call that a container was on fire.”

“Fire trucks and water tankers from Subang Jaya, Puchong and Kota Anngerik were mobilised to fight the fire which was raging when we arrived,” he said.

According to him, the fire had totally razed the container which was carrying plastic pellets.

“The driver managed to separate the container from the lorry head. There were no casualties.”

“We brought the fire under control using liquid foam,” he added.
