EDITORIAL: SUBANG JAYA COMMUNITY AMBULANCE APPEAL FOR FUNDING ASSISTANCE

For this month’s editorial, I am reaching out to you on behalf of the Persatuan Bantuan Kecemasan dan Bomba Komuniti Subang Jaya, with a pressing request for funding assistance to sustain our vital community ambulance operations.

How am I involved? I am one of the voluntary founding members of this emergency service which has saved many lives in Subang Jaya since 2017.My duties are simple – to consistently seek funding to sustain the community ambulance which has in recent years become a crucial service in our township. Sounds simple yeah…but belief me, it’s not as easy as it may appear.

In recent years, we have experienced a notable surge in emergency calls, both from official channels like 999 and directly from the public. This increase in demand has stretched our operational capabilities and posed unforeseen financial challenges. Despite our unwavering commitment, the escalating costs of maintaining our ambulance fleet and ensuring prompt responses to emergencies have become increasingly challenging.

The community ambulance serves as a critical lifeline for the residents of Subang Jaya, providing essential emergency assistance and saving lives in times of crisis. However, without adequate financial support, we risk compromising our ability to deliver these lifesaving services effectively.

It costs RM25,000 monthly to maintain this service. This amount goes to paying for the services of our paramedics; fuel, maintenance of vehicles as well as our medical equipment. Money doesn’t grow on trees. The monthly commitments we have in maintaining this service can only rely on the generosity of Subang Jaya residents.

Therefore, we appeal to your generosity and goodwill to help alleviate the financial strain we are facing. Your contribution, regardless of size, will have a tangible impact on our ability to respond swiftly and efficiently to emergencies, thereby safeguarding the well-being of our community members.

If you are an individual, please consider donating RM10 monthly. If everyone does so, we can have a chance to continue serving you. If you are a corporate entity, please do consider contributing a sizeable amount as part of your corporate social responsibility. Your helping hand will go a long way in helping us save lives.

Just drop me a Whatsapp at 012-3288557 to find out how you can help us boost the community ambulance’s almost empty bank account. We sincerely hope that you will consider our plea for assistance and join us in our mission to continue serving and protecting the people of Subang Jaya. We are one but there are many of you out there who can help us keep going.

The Month of Ramadan

We have just wrapped up our Chinese New Year celebrations for 2024. In just a week’s time, our Muslim brothers and sisters will be observing the fasting month of Ramadan. Before we realise it, we will be celebrating Hari Raya.

I personally look forward to the fasting month. It means I have the opportunity to join my Muslim friends in Subang Jaya during their breaking of fast and enjoy the simple servings whilst in the company of good companions. It also means there’s a whole month for me to visit the Ramadan Buka Puasa stalls around Subang Jaya.

This year, we have six location in Zon Subang Jaya to visit – USJ4, USJ7, Pinggiran USJ, Batu 3 Shah Alam, SS19 and SS13 at Millennium Park. I look forward to hunting down the best Ikan Patin Masak Tempoyak; Murtabab; and most importantly some good donuts for dessert.

Here’s wishing you a happy and productive month ahead. To all our Muslim brothers and sisters, Selamat Berpuasa.
