ENJOY A GOOD FEAST AT SUNWAY PYRAMID THIS CHINESE NEW YEAR

Warm hearty food is the best way to enjoy nostalgic memories and create new moments for Chinese New Year festivities. If you’re staying in Subang Jaya for your Chinese New Year celebrations, or hosting guests from other states, here’s a guide on where you can enjoy the festivities with your friends and family in Sunway Pyramid, a one-stop destination for shopping, dining and leisurely activities.

Save yourself the time and effort of cooking traditional reunion dishes by dining at Souper Tang (LG1.112 – next to MUJI). A restaurant offering nostalgic, nutritious, and hearty dishes, you can find auspicious recipes such as Supreme Buddha Jumps Over the Wall and Poon Choi (vegetarian option available). You can also purchase gifts such as abalone, bird’s nest, collagen drinks, ginseng wine and more. Souper Tang will be open from 10am – 8pm; closed on 29 January; business as usual on 30 January.

If you’re a big fan of juicy roast duck and Chinese fusion food, Hou Duck (LG2.129A-2 – next to Eu Yan Sang) offers unique dishes such as stuffed dough sticks with dried chili & garlic. Their 8-dish CNY menu includes Hong Kong style roasted duck, garlic butter baked sea prawns, and steamed dragon grouper head with bacon. They also have salmon or jellyfish yee sang available to order. Hou Duck will be open from 10am – 10pm as usual throughout CNY.

Famous for its signature grilled fish and modern Chinese interior is TANYU 探鱼烤鱼 (LG2.128B – next to DIN). It originates from Shenzhen and offers 8 types of flavours – most of which are spicy. Available for pre-order is the Red Prosperity Reunion Set, suitable for 3-4 pax and comes with free Abalone Yusheng, and Golden Fortune Osmanthus Cake. The outlet also serves exclusive items such as TANYU “RED” Fiesta, Grilled Fish with Fresh Tomato, Lychee Shrimp Ball, and Jumbo Rosé Drink. TANYU will be open from 10am – 10pm as usual throughout CNY.

“The opening of Oasis gave us the opportunity to bring in more unique restaurants and cafes for the community. You no longer have to travel far to enjoy good food as we have them right at your doorstep,” shared Jason Chin, Senior General Manager of Sunway Pyramid, Sunway Square & Sunway Giza Mall. To date, Sunway Pyramid offers over 250 F&B options with unique cuisines and a fresh dining atmosphere.

For those who enjoy Cantonese cuisine and elegant interior design, Oriental Sun (G1.41) serves excellent dim sum and premium seafood, pork, and poultry dishes. The restaurant offers a variety of Chinese New Year Celebration Set menu and you can ‘Lou Hei’ with abundant Yee Sang options available. Dine in with a spectacular view of Sunway Lagoon or in private dining rooms with karaoke amenities. Oriental Sun will be open from 10am – 10pm on 28 January (booking required); closed on 29 and 30 January; business as usual on 31 January.

If you prefer to enjoy your reunion at home, there is a take-away promotion by Dragon-i (G1.43) for the Prosperity Reunion Treasure Pot. The Shanghainese restaurant specialising in peking duck is also introducing two new lobster dishes for CNY – the Sautéed Lobster with Salted Egg Yolk and the Braised Lobster with Fried Noodles. Dragon-i will be open on 28 January for lou sang and poon choi take-away orders only from 9am – 2pm; closed on 29 January; business as usual on 30 January (11am – 2:30pm and 5pm – 9:30pm).

Putien (LG1.43A) is inspired by Fujian cuisine which uses fresh seafood (often found in the coastal city of Putian) and seasonal fruits. With set meals (Propitious, Opulence, Shang Yang Tai or Prosperity) available for 2 to 10 pax, enjoy their abalone or scallop Yu Sheng and various seafood delicacies such as Poached Tiger Prawns with Chinese Herbs, Braised Red Mushroom with Chicken Soup and Steamed Live Dragon Grouper – all packed with nutrition and auspicious blessings. Looking for an alternative take on tradition? Give Thai seafood restaurant Laem Charoen (G1.98) a consideration. You can try their signature deep-fried sea bass cooked in fish sauce or their new menu item Glass Noodle with Baked Prawns. For CNY, they have prepared a Prosperity Yee Sang – Thai Style suitable for 6 to 8 pax using bold Thai flavours and refreshing Thai oranges. Laem Chaoren will be open from 10am – 10pm as usual throughout CNY.

If you’re looking to enjoy Yee Sang with a fresh twist, you can also check out Sushi Zanmai, Sakae Sushi, Torii Teppanyaki, Supamala, Madam Kwan’s or Dolly Dim Sum. Poon Choi options are also available at Souper Tang, Grand Imperial, Esquire Kitchen, Oriental Sun and Putien.
