How to Save Lives: Learning the Basics

MEMBERS of the Subang Jaya Voluntary Patrol Unit picked up new tips on how to respond in a medical emergency while they are either out on their crime prevention patrols or at home.

Knowing the right thing to do when someone faints; has a heart attack or chokes were some of the lessons learned at the basic first-aid session conducted by members of SJ Beacon, Subang Jaya’s Community Ambulance for the VPU team.

VPU members were given an insight into how to conduct themselves as a first responder in a medical emergency during the session which was conducted by SJ Beacon paramedic supervisor Amala Dass.

ADUN Subang Jaya Michelle Ng who was also present said that learning first-aid could help save lives of loved ones and others.

“I learned about first-aid conducted by SJ Beacon earlier on and what I learned probably saved my baby’s live. I knew what to do when he choked and that is something that’s invaluable for my husband and I.” she said.
