LEONG JIA HUI– STAYING HOME TO FIGHT COVID-19

It’s now 31 days since we’ve all stayed home in the joint efforts to fight Covid-19. The Movement Control Order which was first implemented on March 18 2020 has restricted our movement in a bid to bring down the curve of infection from the “invisible” virus.

The MCO has given us the opportunity to catch up with teacher Leong Jia Hui in USJ to find out how she is keeping abreast with her students during the MCO. She gives us a peek into her MCO days.

How are you coping with the MCO? What are you doing to keep your time occupied?

I’m coping well after the second phase of MCO. I’m a teacher so I give online classes to my students from 9am to 7pm on weekdays. That fills up most of my time daily.

Are you happy to get more time to spend with the family? Tell us how you are doing this?

Yes, I’m happy that I can spend more time with my family compared to before the MCO. I get to see family members every day and have more conversations with them.

Have you found new hobbies while staying at home? Have you discovered you (or your spouse) can cook too?

I discovered that I can actually bake. During this MCO, I baked tiramisu and burnt cheese cake. Itf it wasn’t for the MCO, I don’t think I will enter the kitchen in my lifetime.

How are you keeping fit and alert at home? Have you gained weight?

I work out almost every day during the MCO to maintain my weight as I eat a lot too during MCO.

Jia Hui’s pet dog also wears a face mask during the MCO

How are you keeping abreast with the news on Covid-19 and MCO?

I keep myself updated through Facebook and WhatsApp news sharing around my circle of friends.

What’s your advise to everyone?

Stay calm and enjoy life during the MCO.

Teoh
