THE construction of Subang Jaya’s much awaited Klinik Kesihatan in USJ1 is expected to commence in March 2025, according to ADUN Subang Jaya Michelle Ng and Subang MP Wong Chen.

Both Michelle and Wong Chen shared the good news with residents who attended the recent Pesta Hari Malaysia event at Summit USJ.

“The planning approval for the project has been approved by PLANMalaysia (Department of Town and Country Planning) on September 27 at a cost of RM52.64mil.”

“The project is expected to be submitted for tender by October 18 and construction work is expected to commence in March 2025,” Michelle said.

The Klinik Kesihatan will be built on a 4.238-acre (17,140 sq m) land in USJ1 approximately the size of two football fields, next to SJK (C) Chee Wen. Once operational, it will have the capacity to attend to 500-800 patients at any given time.

The facility will offer a range of services, including outpatient and emergency departments, a pharmacy with a drive-thru facility, imaging services, maternal and child health care, pathology, dental services, and rehabilitation departments.

It will also provide 160 parking bays for vehicles, including designated bays for persons with disabilities (OKU) and 31 bays for motorcycles. Additionally, the new facility will be equipped with a garage for five ambulances.

“I would like to thank Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad who has given his commitment and has fought hard to make this facility a reality for us in Subang Jaya.”

“We will also have a new component for the facility – Infectious Disease,” she said.

Michelle said residents who needed medical treatment were now going to the Klinik Kesihatan in Kelana Jaya, Batu 14 Puchong and Taman Medan. This has, according to her, overburdened the three facilities.

Michelle said the Klinik Kesihatan in USJ1 is expected to be ready by 2028 to cater to the needs of residents in Subang Jaya.

“We will keep residents posted on the progress of this Federal project,” she added.

According to Wong Chen, “We have been campaigning for this clinic for 12 years, so it is so good to finally have a confirmation from the government that the project will begin next year. The construction may take up to 3 years, so hopefully we should be able to have the clinic operational by 2028 the latest. This clinic is essential for the ageing population of Subang.”

“We have to now look at the Federal Budget which is to be tabled this month (October) to confirm that the funds have really been committed to build this much needed facility for Subang Jaya.”

Wong Chen said the population of the Subang Parliamentary constituency stood at 500,000.

“We have mainly middle- and upper-class residents. We contribute income tax and corporate tax of RM2bil-RM3bil annually. The amount (RM52.64mil) we are asking for is trivial as compared to what we contribute as tax payers.”

“We know many can afford private medical care but for those who are in the lower income category, the Klinik Kesihatan is very much needed,” he said, adding that he looked forward to see the budget for the Klinik Kesihatan to be tabled by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in the upcoming Federal budget.

Wong Chen said the construction will take between 24-36 months to complete.

“The land issue is still work-in-progress. The school concerned has to give and take on this matter,” he concluded.

MBSJ MPP Zon 4 councillor Kamarul Hisham who sits in the council’s One-Stop-Centre Technical and Infrastructure Committee said he will closely monitor the project.

“We will facilitate the approval and construction phase. We will make sure the appointed consultant for the project submits all the necessary documentation on time to avoid any delays in the project.”

“The OSC meets twice a month and approvals can be given as fast as 14 days or by the latest 28 days to comply with conditions not met,” he said.

The efforts to establish this health clinic for the community have been ongoing for more than a decade, starting during the tenure of former ADUN Subang Jaya Dato Lee Hwa Beng, continued through former ADUN Subang Jaya Hannah Yeoh’s term, and are now being led by Wong Chen and Michelle Ng.
