New Flyover from Lagoon Selatan to Subang–Kelana Link Set to Ease Traffic Congestion

SUBANG JAYA, Nov 6 : The Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) has announced plans to construct a new flyover linking Persiaran Lagoon Selatan directly to the Subang–Kelana Link, providing motorists with a smoother route towards the Federal Highway and NKVE.

The RM200 million project, fully funded and managed by Sunway South Quay Sdn Bhd, aims to improve traffic flow and ease congestion in the busy Subang Jaya, Sunway, and USJ areas — long known for their bottlenecks during peak hours.

Currently, vehicles from Lagoon Selatan heading to the Subang–Kelana Link must turn left onto Persiaran Kewajipan towards USJ and make several U-turns at traffic lights before rejoining the main route. The new flyover will provide a direct connection, reducing travel time and improving the Level of Service (LOS) along key intersections.

MBSJ in a statement said the project had gone through three townhall engagement sessions with residents and stakeholders. Based on public feedback, several design adjustments were made, including:

  • Cancellation of the original ramp-down to Persiaran Kewajipan

  • Upgrading of the Kewajipan–NPE roundabout by the developer

  • Installation of sound barriers along the flyover

  • Improved drainage at the Kewajipan–SS14/8 junction

  • Green landscaping elements on the flyover pillars

In addressing residents’ concerns, MBSJ assured that the entire project will be built within gazetted road reserve land and will not encroach into the SS14 residential area.

Approval for construction was granted only after comprehensive technical reviews by relevant agencies, including a Traffic Impact Assessment (TIA), Road Safety Audit (RSA), and evaluations by the Public Works Department (JKR) and New Pantai Expressway (NPE). The design complies fully with technical requirements under the Roads, Drains and Buildings Act 1974 (Act 133).

MBSJ reaffirmed its commitment to prioritising community safety, traffic efficiency, and sustainable urban development in all city projects.
